Humble Pie - I Don't Need No Doctor

The last 10th of February I put on Peter Frampton's music and the 27th some of The Faces. Well, Humble Pie is a band started by the singer Steve Marriott when he left Small Faces (then Rod Stewart replaced him and that group was renamed The Faces). Marriott recruited, among others, Peter Frampton (who began his solo career later, as we saw). Today I bring a brutal version of "I don't need no doctor" in one of their deafening concerts. Marriott's voice is great, Frampton play his original scales brilliantly and the whole band emits energy to fire up a couple of nuclear power plants.

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust + Moonage Daydream

David Bowie is a complete artist: musician, composer, actor, etc. The way he sings has been imitated by many people. His androgynous-glam aesthetics shocked at first and after was also copied. But, without a doubt, I like the best his talent for composing. When I listened to Bowie for the first time, the originality of the first song on the album surprised me, then it did the second one, then the third song and so on until the end of the album. I heard the next album and I was amazed again. All songs were original, different and high quality. I bring a song from his period as Ziggy: a peculiar character from space that starred album and tours with a flashy and theatrical staging. Certainly, Bowie is a cultural icon of the twentieth century.

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust

What a great show! The whole band is in a state of grace. The end is tremendous, punk and very very rock. How I like a riot on stage!

Wes Montgomery - West Coast Blues

Enjoy some good jazz. Is said that Wes Montgomery taught himself to play guitar. Maybe that's why his way of playing using the right thumb is so peculiar. However, his technique and his swing are wonderful.

We celebrate 20 years of an album that marked the definitive recognition from the public and the critics for Kiko Veneno: Échate un cantecito. A lot of later artists have drunk from this source and, what was once a personal style (Kiko's) has now become a musical style adopted by many singers and groups. Some of the things that I like the most from Kiko Veneno are his portraits of everyday people and his sense of humor (even to discuss very serious issues). Song title: En un mercedes blanco.

Jon Lord - Child in Time (Deep Purple) + solo (Whitesnake)

(me ha costado parar de poner ejemplos) o el inicio de canciones como Lazy, Walking in the Shadows of the Blues, o la mítica Child in Time.

Jon Lord died yesterday. One of the most important (and probably most famous) keyboard players in rock history. Deep Purple and Whitesnake have their place in the Hall of Fame thanks to the crucial role played by Jon Lord. I will never forget his solos on songs sach as Highway Star, Fireball, Space Truckin ', Burn, "A" 200, Keep On Moving, etc. (it was really hard to stop giving examples) or the beginning of songs like Lazy, Walking in the Shadows of the Blues, or the mythical Child In Time.
