Por si alguien se ha quedado con la miel en los labios (por el brusco final de la canción anterior), aquí pongo la canción que le sigue casi enlazada (tanto en el disco como en los conciertos). Se titula Rain Song. Es una maravilla entera, pero a partir del minuto 5 es una pasada. Y el final de Page a la guitarra es una monada.

Schubert - Death and the Maiden

Siempre creí que la música de cámara era cosa del Barroco. Hasta que entendí que era música para un número reducido de instrumentos, frente a las obras para orquesta, y que también en los S. XIX y XX se había hecho música de cámara. Y escuché los cuartetos para cuerda de Schubert, y descubrí el nº 14, y me di cuenta de que, al igual que en el rock, no necesitas a la fuerza muchos instrumentos para dar caña de la buena. Y si no, mirad este video (el subidón del Alban Berg Quartet en el min 3:20 es heavy metal).

The Beatles + Frank Sinatra - Something

Llegó el turno de los Beatles. Es indudable que la pareja Lennon/McCartney debe llevarse con todo merecimiento la fama por sus míticas composiciones. Pero un servidor siempre tuvo debilidad por los temas de los Beatles compuestos por Harrison. Aquí os traigo "Something" y, después, una versión de lujo de la misma canción.

Esa otra versión es la de "La voz". Para tirarse al suelo del gustazo escuchando esa espectacular orquesta y la habilidad de Mr. Sinatra para hacer que lo difícil parezca fácil.

Pearl Jam - Jeremy

Los unplugged de MTV eran conciertos en los que los artistas hacían arreglos en sus temas y sustituían los instrumentos eléctricos por acústicos, la batería por bonguitos o cosas así, y todos se sentaban en banquetitas como chicos modositos. Pearl Jam pasó de todo eso, e incluso terminaron tirándose desde las banquetas. Jeremy es un tema mítico de esta gran banda.

Vangelis - Blade Runner Soundtrack

Blade Runner se ha convertido en un mito. Una película del género aquel que llamaron "ciencia-ficción" que, a diferencia de otras del mismo género, ha soportado muy bien el paso del tiempo. Creo que la clave de su vigencia está en que en la ambientación no plantearon un mundo futuro demasiado fantasioso, sino bastante parecido al actual. La banda sonora, a cargo de Vangelis, es una de las responsables del éxito de este film.

Blade Runner has become a myth. A film of the genre that they called "science fiction" that, unlike others of the same genre, has withstood well the test of time. I think the key to its survival is in the atmosphere, which does not show a future world too fantastic, but much like the current one. Stevie Wonder + Beck, Bogert & Appice - Superstition

Una misma canción en dos versiones. Superstition es una canción muy peculiar, porque, mientras la letra habla muy seriamente de lo chungo que es ser supersticioso, la música tiene un ritmazo que te entran ganas de ponerte a bailar de alegría. La primera versión es la original de Stevie Wonder, curiosamente interpretada en Barrio Sésamo.

La segunda versión es de un supertrío poderosísimo formado nada más ni nada menos que por Jeff Beck, Tim Bogert y Carmine Appice. Ya os castigaré en el futuro con música de estos tres tipos en las diferentes formaciones históricas a las que han pertenecido a lo largo de sus respectivas carreras. ¡Rock duro!

Estreno de "La oreja feliz"

Hoy se estrena "La oreja feliz", un blog creado que el fin de dispensar, sin receta, píldoras musicales para la felicidad de nuestras orejas.

Mi idea no es otra que dirigir una especie de programa de música. Evidentemente pondré la música que a mí me gusta, en la idea ilusoria de que al resto de la humanidad le importa un pimiento. Pero bueno, para eso están las redes sociales: para darle la lata a los demás con tus opiniones, gustos, estados de ánimo, etc. aunque no te hayan preguntado.
